Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) is a comprehensive therapeutic model focused on building practical skills to support self-regulation and emotional well-being. It includes core modules such as mindfulness (learning to observe and describe thoughts and feelings without judgment), distress tolerance (developing strategies to cope with crises or intense emotions without making things worse), emotion regulation (identifying and naming emotions, reducing vulnerability to intense feelings, and increasing positive emotional experiences), and interpersonal effectiveness (assertive communication, setting boundaries, and maintaining relationships). Through structured exercises, worksheets, and in-session practice, clients learn to notice triggers, pause before reacting, and apply specific strategies when they feel overwhelmed.

Happy Family

DBT can be a powerful resource for managing high life stressors whether you’re facing pressures at work, school challenges, or major life transitions. In therapy, we’ll explore specific DBT skills like mindfulness to stay grounded, distress tolerance techniques to cope in the moment, emotion regulation strategies to reduce overwhelm, and interpersonal effectiveness tools to navigate difficult conversations. Together, we’ll identify which skills best fit your situation and practice applying them until they become natural supports in your daily life.

If you’ve been feeling stretched thin by stress or unsure how to handle intense emotions, therapy offers a safe space to learn and refine these tools. Let’s work together to build resilience and balance. Consider scheduling an appointment today to begin exploring how DBT skills can help you thrive amid life’s demands.

Good Faith Estimate You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who donʼt have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any nonemergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (615) 988-4763.
